Fabric was used on very old planes .
Then 2024-T3 aluminum on low cost planes .
Plastics and carbon fiber ( composites )
is used on all commercial
passenger planes . It has extreme light weight and
extreme rigidity , needed to maintain its
shape under heavy wind loading .
Rigidity prevents it from vibrating at low load conditions
like rudder at a centered position .
767 has good materials in horizontle stabilizer
but Boeing can't figure how to stop them from
freezing , thousands have died ...
No other com airplanes have this problem .
BTW , anyone know whats cheap to do 800 F and
not flake apart as asbestos/silica/pink panther
does ?
Its for insulating cooking pots/pans , like the old square
electric skillet that sells everywhere for $25 .
Using only stainless foil is OK , but i could stop
more heat with a mineral . |
