Bleach and salt

Hi there,
I have a burning question here and hope someone can answer. I am an endodontist and I use sodium hypochlorite to disinfect the root canal system. After oxidizing the NaOCl becomes salt.
Now I wish to know: how much is the concentration of sodium ions (or sodium chloride) after disinfection? I use NaOCl 2%.
Can someone give me the answer or hand me the tools so I can figure it out myself? At school I was never very good at chemistry. One of the reasons why I became a dentist. :D

Bleach decomposition

The decompostion of Sodium Hypochlorite NaOCl, depends on its environment. The pH of the enviornment and any other constituents (carbon dioxide, metals, etc.) has an affect on the outcome.

That said, it ultimately will decompose to Oxygen and Sodium Chloride. At 2% wt/wt, NaOCl will degrade to slightly less than that in sodium chloride - simple trick:

MW NaCl = 23 + 35 = 58
MW NaOCl = 23 + 16 + 35 = 74

Assuming volume of liquid is unchanged, it would be roughly 2% X 58/74

or about 1.6% NaCl 8)
